But I don't think there's any reason why I can't also take over 'Top Chef. At the same time, when I'm on tour with an album, I'm really focused on that album because I'm performing it and working with it. It's kind of inevitable, for me, to always be thinking about new music. But if you have good, fresh ingredients, you can get creative.Īre you already working on your next album, or are you planning to win 'Top Chef Masters' instead? But the logistics of cooking on a bus-I mean, sure, you're limited. I start with the ingredients and that's how I decide what I'm going to cook-whatever's fresh, whatever's available. You know, for me it's about the ingredients. And I do cook on the tour bus, sometimes. If I know I have a few days in one location, I'll make sure I'm somewhere with a kitchen so I can cook myself. It's a really balancing thing, especially when you're traveling a lot. I try to make time to cook when I'm on tour whenever I can. You could turn your tour bus into a food truck? Oh no! That would be funny, though! Sometimes we've done food pairings at events for the album, but I think the audience at my concert wants to dance, right? Although sometimes I think, 'What if we had lots of food trucks come to the venue?' Since your album is called 'Food,' will you be cooking for your audiences on tour? Do you like ribs? You should try the jerk sauce and make jerk ribs. When the pandemic hit, Kelis did what many only fantasize about doing: She sought refuge on a farm in the country, and found liberation in unruly livestock and homegrown arugula. That's true! I went to culinary school and my sauces are called Feast. You are a trained chef with your own line of cooking sauces. In her waking life, her farm is a reality that feeds her just as much as she feeds it. Why do all that when you can use a wig? Some people get a little nervous about them, I guess, but why? Go for the wig. Kelis recently took Harper's Bazaar on a home tour of her Temecula, California farm and once again proved why she is the living breathing rendition of her ancestors' wildest dreams. So to get all 'Mad Men' for the ads was fun… and I kept the wigs.
KELIS FOOD TOUR SKIN
Sometimes my skin gets a little dry, but unless I'm performing, I keep it really natural. Oh, it's way more subdued, especially with the makeup. But I'm so glad I got involved, because when I got to the photo shoot, I saw what they had planned: these incredible wigs, this totally '60s makeup. One of my best friends works for Grey Ant, so when she called me, it was basically a no-brainer. How did you get involved in this campaign? We spoke with the Harlem native about the ads, her new music, and the joys of BBQ. The singer, actress, and chef sports several '60s-inspired hairpieces, with nude, matte lipstick and cake eyeliner to complete the foxy retro look. She recently partnered with Ramada hotels for an international culinary video series, and it was literally the perfect marriage of her passions food and travel. Kim Kardashian's not the only one wigging out this week: In these exclusive photos, Kelis proves she's a hot blonde, too. While many people are asking her where the new music is, Kelis is busy living her best life.
